How I design your tattoo

I tattoo custom work based on your ideas and my own designs. I recommend you keep your ideas fairly simple to work as a tattoo and around 1 to a maximum of 3 elements for me to create a successful design in my style.

Custom work is either quoted with an approximate price or priced at an hourly or daily rate.

My current hourly rate for most types of work is £80 an hour or £420 for a day session which is approximately 6 hours of tattooing, sessions will include short breaks for food and for health and safety reasons for us both.

Minimum set up charges

I charge a minimum of £40 for a very small simple symbol or letter tattoo, and all other small tattoos start at a minimum of £60-£80.

Day session length and deposits

Sessions usually run from 9.30 to 4.30/5pm and need a £120 non refundable deposit to reserve an appointment. It’s a smaller deposit for smaller tattoo pieces

No deposit means no appointment.

If your piece isn’t completed by 5pm due to large scale or large amounts of detail you can book another session to complete the tattoo.

For larger scale work it’s always advisable to book multiple sessions in advance, especially as my diary gets booked up in advance and you may wait months for your next appointment.

I have limited weekends appointments so please be prepared to take time off work for your appointment.

If you book a day session please allow plenty of time at the end of the day for the tattoo to rest and be photographed.

Set price pieces

I also create pre drawn designs or portfolio pieces these are tattooed at a set price and size which is great if you have a price range to keep in - these can be found on my instagram page and highlights and you can book them in by contacting me through email - clairyfloofstattoo@gmail.com

Design process
The process for your tattoo design starts with a consultation between us either via email or in person in the studio.

Ideally I prefer to meet my clients and talk to them in person, to get measurements and have a clear concept for the tattoo and the style. However for many tattoos a detailed email consultation works well.

There is no extra charge for custom tattooing.

However please be aware if you completely change your designs, idea, theme, style, or request repeated changes - drawing fees and any necessary extra tattoo time costs will be applied to your tattoo price. There are no initial drawing fees for your tattoos which can take many many hours of work, but redraw fees are a fair practice to protect the artist and design process.

Large design changes may also result in having to reschedule your appointment due to time constraints for redrawing.

Please be sure on your idea before going ahead with getting it tattooed, you can always book a consultation to talk to me about ideas to see if a idea could work, and to map it out on your body.

Please research different tattoo styles and be clear on the styles that I work within - cute bold and colourful, cute Kawaii, cartoons and anime, sketchy, illustrative and watercolour, neotraditional and traditional, script, bold florals in colour or stipple work.

Be aware that your tattoo design is normally shown to you on the day of your appointment, not in advance as this is how I work best, and can focus on your specific design the night before and morning prior to the appointment, so it’s important you trust me and communicate very clearly what you want in advance so I can get it right for you, on the day of the appointment if there are small changes they can be made before I create the final stencil for the tattoo.

When booking in please look at the styles and types of tattooing that I do and be clear on what you want, please send as many references as possible, drawings, photographs etc and be very clear and specific on the placement and size, and describe what you want clearly and in detail. I don’t mind a long explanation! It’s important that you like and trust my style, work and vision for the tattoo. If this isn’t something you can do we probably won’t be a good match together to create a great tattoo.

I reserve the right to discontinue a working relationship with a client when I feel like it isn’t a positive one, or one in which the tattoo brief is unobtainable.

This in particular includes clients who can’t or won’t sit still, as I cannot tattoo moving clients and it causes me physical harm trying to hold you still. You will be asked to stay still during a tattoo and if you cannot do this the session may be terminated with full session payment expected.

Small changes can always be made to your tattoo If needed but any large changes may result in rescheduling your appointment.

Large design changes may be charged extra drawing fees.

Cover ups

Please be aware for cover up tattoos I will need to see the tattoo in person to see how it can be covered and also once the design is done to double check the design flows and works well to cover your tattoo fully.

I welcome cover ups if I think its within my skills to create you a tattoo that you will be happy with, however if not I will recommend a suitable artist or suggest a having laser removal course to lighten your tattoo first.
